1988-10-12 Ganja Harvest Festival 1988

After the first frost, people would call me and tell me that "it's time." What they meant was that it was time for my annual program, the Ganja Harvest Festival. Each year I try and play a jolly selection of music about the Rastafari "wisdom weed" and the role it plays in Rastafarian religious beliefs and also in Jamaican culture. If you think it is about "we get stoned and that's cool" then you are missing the point, the important force that Ganja has been in the lyrical content of Reggae through these many years. Artists included: Capital Letters, Ken Rachlis, Lambsbread, Pounding System, Jacob Miller, Yellowman, Pato Banton, Black Uhuru, Black Slate, Culture, Michigan & Smiley, Frankie Paul, John Holt, Bob Marley & the Wailers, and a lot more.

None of the information or ideas contained in the Reggae Lunch are those of the University of Vermont, WRUV-FM radio and their members or officers.
